Physical and Chemical Characteristics of Oil Palm Plantation Soil: A New Lead in Forensic Investigation

Soil sample is one of the important evidence that can be found in crime scene. Unknown soil analysed and compared with reference order to determine origin as its physical chemical components possess unique characteristics. The purpose this study characteristics from oil palm plantations Perak, Malaysia assist forensic investigation. Total 97 topsoil samples were collected three different Perak. Particle size distribution was obtained using dry sieving technique colour examined under conditions are dry, moist ashed. pH measured meter percentage composition organic matter (SOM) determined by weighing before after ignition. Result showed particle <0.18mm within range 5.57-21.11% whereas for between 0.18mm - 0.6mm 31.62 52.96% 25.78-66.86% >0.6mm. color mode oven dried, moistened ashed greyish brown (10YR 5/2), very dark 3/2) light yellowish 6/4) respectively. 5.79 – 6.70. SOM 3.29 20.48%. locations varied it possible discriminate these based on analysis highlighted study.
